JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Facilities Manager (need to make sure it is understood this includes grounds
JOB TYPE: Full-time, Salaried
RESPONSIBLE TO: Church Administrator
SUPERVISES: Part-time custodians
Job Summary: The Facilities Manager should see this position as
a ministry. He/She should seek to see the building and grounds through
the eyes of first-time visitors and help Tates Creek make the best impression
possible.
Essential Job Functions:
1) Supervises cleaning of facilities and maintenance of lighting, plumbing,
and HVAC systems, security and fire alarms, grounds, and parking lot.
2) Assumes responsibility for set-up for regular programs and special
events as they appear on the church calendar or as requested by staff.
3) Serves as primary contact for contracted lawn mowing, landscaping,
and snow removal services.
4) Works with the Administrator to supervise all contractors (such as
painters, electricians, plumbers, HVAC service people, etc.) that provide
routine maintenance services, as well as those who perform major repairs.
5) Works with Facilities Ministry Team chairman to plan and conduct
church-wide property workdays.
6) Attends Facilities Ministry Team meetings, reporting on maintenance
issues and making recommendations on major repairs needed.
7) Works with the Administrator to prepare the annual budget request
for facilities (operations).
8) Monitors expenses of the facilities (operations) budget on a monthly
basis, noting variances with explanations.
9) Works with the Administrator to cover shifts in the absence of staff,
including weekends.
10) Performs other duties as requested/required.
Character Requirement: Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be a consistent witness, maintaining a Christ-like spirit in dealing with church members, guests, and co-workers.
Education Requirement: Must be a high school graduate or have a GED
Physical Requirement: Position may require:
* prolonged sitting, standing, bending, stretching, and lifting.
* climbing and working on a ladder or equipment.
* crawling and working in confined areas.
* operating a variety of hand and power tools.
(This is a “hands-on” position — not a desk job, though
some of that type work is included.)
Work Schedule: The regular workweek is Monday through Friday, but may have to be adjusted (at times) for special events or needs of the church.
Quality of Work: Maintains high standards in exercising duties and responsibilities. Must take pride in the appearance of our building and grounds. Exercises immediate remedial action to correct any quality deficiencies that occur in areas of responsibility.
Dependability: Completes assigned work on or before deadlines in accordance with directives, policy, standards, and prescribed procedures. Remains accountable for assigned responsibilities.
Attendance: Adheres to policies and procedures regarding absences and tardiness. Provides adequate notice to Administrator with respect to vacation time and time-off requests.
Initiative and Enthusiasm: Maintains enthusiastic, self-reliant and
self-
starting approach to meet job requirements. Strives to anticipate work
to be done and initiates proper and acceptable direction for the completion
of work with a minimum of supervision and instruction.
Relationships: Communicates with all church members, guests, and fellow employees in a courteous and respectful manner. Displays a positive attitude in all interactions.
Involvement in some professional organization, such as National Association of Church Facilities Managers (NACFM), is encouraged.
A performance evaluation will be conducted annually by the Administrator and the Personnel Committee.
The Personnel Committee will annually review the adequacy of compensation.
