Leadership Transition Update

We want to keep you informed and encouraged as we walk through an important season in the life of our church.

As we move forward during this time of transition, we’re thankful to have Jamie Snyder from Southeast Christian Church as our interim preacher. We are grateful for his willingness to serve and lead us during this season.

Thank you for your constant prayers and encouragement. Our leaders feel confident that they are being led by the Holy Spirit throughout this process and have peace surrounding their decisions.

We are thrilled to announce that our congregation has overwhelmingly approved our new Senior Minister, Craig Chappell, with a 99% favorable vote! We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone for your continuous prayers, support, and encouragement throughout this process. God is good, and we are incredibly excited for this next chapter in our church's journey. We will keep everyone posted as soon as an official start date is finalized.

We are also excited to announce that, after much prayer and consideration, Jeremiah Van Skike has accepted our invitation to join our staff as Worship Director. He and his family visited with us on Fathers Day weekend when Jeremiah introduced himself to the choir and answered questions. He also met, practiced and participated in the second service worship. Jeremiah has years of experience leading worship and directing choirs in both churches and educational institutions. Upon arrival, plans are for Jeremiah to work with Rachel Haskins and Nathan Campbell to assume the responsibility of coordinating and building the second service worship team. We expect this to take some time. We have asked Dan Craig to continue leading the choir and worship in the first service as he has done faithfully for the last five years through June of 2027. Jeremiah will join the choir to get to know the members personally and experience how Dan leads. Current plans are for Jeremiah to assume responsibility for leading the choir when they return from summer break in September 2027.  Jeremiah, his wife Liz, and their three boys have targeted to be in Lexington around September 1. We are so excited to welcome Jeremiah and his family to tccc!

Thank you for your continued prayers, faithfulness, and support during this season. We trust God is guiding every step, and we look forward to what He will do in and through our church during this season of change.

A Message from Our Elders

  • What is the plan for finding a new Senior Minister?

Our elders are leading the search process for our next Senior Minister. They are prayerfully seeking the right candidate and will share updates as they become available.

  • How long will the search process take?

Every search process is different, and we want to be thoughtful and prayerful in each step. While we don’t have a set timeline, we are committed to keeping the church informed along the way.

  • Are there other staff positions being filled right now?

Yes, we are also actively continuing the search for a Worship Minister alongside the Senior Minister search. Please see our Careers page for a complete list of open positions or to apply.

  • How can I be praying during this season?

Please pray for Justin and his family as they transition, for Jamie as he steps in to serve, our church staff, and for our elders and serch team as they lead the search process. Pray also for the person God is preparing to join our church as our next Senior Minister.

  • Who can I talk to if I have questions?

Please contact our elders with any questions regarding the transition. Email elders@tatescreek.org with any questions.
